Professor Kevin Knuth on why the USS Nimitz "Tic Tac" encounter was not a secret military test

"Kevin Knuth on UFOs, Nimitz / Tic Tac video, and a new kind of Theory of Everything" Published on the YouTube channel Theories of Everything with Curt Jaimungal on April 13, 2021. Duration: 2:30:57.
Kevin Knuth is a Professor of physics at the University of Albany, a former NASA scientist, and the Editor-In-Chief of the Entropy journal. He has a unique Theory of Everything called Influence Theory.

First, I recommend you to look at the links in the video description of this episode on Mr. Jaimungal's YouTube channel. You can find a few of those interesting and useful links to Professor Knuth's research on the UFO phenomenon and work in physics below:

Presentation:

  • Knuth's presentation delineating interstellar space travel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXswO... (In the conversation with Mr. Jaimungal, Professor Knuth summarizes his fascinating hypothesis on "nomadic" space travelling civilisations, starting around the 52 min mark).

Also, in the video description of this interview, or conversation, with guest Kevin Knuth, you can find timestamps of what and when topics are covered during the conversation. Roughly speaking, the first half of the 2 hours and 30 minutes is about Professor Knuth's interest in and research of the UFO phenomenon. The second half is about his scientific work and career as a physicist. Even for a non-scientist like myself, the second half is highly interesting and is, as I understand it, relevant to better understand the UFO phenomenon.

Why post this conversation between Mr Jaimungal and Professor Knuth? There are several reasons, but my main reason is that I think what Professor Knuth says about the USS Nimitz "Tic Tac" encounter in 2004 is important to keep in my mind, especially since the recent video release of a "pyramid-shaped" flying object (actually, several objects, if objects at all). In the latter case, we do not have any or very little data on what is going on (some argue that the video has significant data to reveal if you know what to look for, and they may be right). In the former case, Knuth and his colleagues at the Scientific Coalition of UAP Studies (SCU) have analysed and published a paper on (see above: the first link under "Papers").

Why is that important? Well, for one thing, we in the ufo community or in the debunking community should not be so fast to determine what a particular UFO video is showing or not. It takes time, effort, resources, and skills to analyse a photo or a video of UFOs/UAP, especially if the video/photo is blurry and low resolution (as, for example, the Tic Tac and Gimbal videos). But above all, you need as much data as possible of a particular UFO case to even have a fair chance of doing proper analysis and produce credible results (or educated guesses).

As Professor Knuth says in the conversation above, the lack of public data in most UFO cases is one of the strongest reasons for professional physicists not to look into the UFO phenomenon, even though they might find the phenomenon as a whole or a particular UFO case, intriguing. So the lack of public data is serious not only for the small ufo community but because the paucity of data keeps scientists away from looking into the UFO phenomenon, even though they behind closed doors are fascinated by the phenomenon (Professor Knuth brings this up around the 41:40 minute mark).

I think it is easy to understand why a physicist or an engineer would be curious about what the extraordinary flight manoeuvres of UFOs/UAP could reveal about the fundamental laws of physics (what is possible or not regarding, for example, propulsion and flight performance). And I think it is as easy to understand why a scientist would feel unmotivated to research a particular UFO case when there is no or very little data to go on. He or she has better things to do with their time than to figure out where to find relevant data in the first place.

This is one reason why pushing for greater official transparency regarding the UFO phenomenon is crucial. Because as I interpret Professor Knuth, the problem is not so much a lack of curiosity about UFOs/UAP among his physicist peers, but the problem is rather the lack of available data on UFO cases. I am also convinced that more access to credible data on UFOs/UAP would reduce the UFO phenomenon's social stigma. Social stigma, of course, is another powerful reason for scientists not going public with their private interest in the UFO phenomenon.

Another, and a related, reason why I wanted to make a post on the conversation with Professor Knuth, is that we, thanks to him and his colleagues at SCU and the witnesses from the USS Nimitz encounter 2004, can make a sound argument that the "Tic Tac(s)" was most likely not a secret military test (Professor Knuth starts this line of reasoning at the 37 min. mark).

We cannot make a sound argument about what the pyramid-shaped object(s) is or is not. At least not yet. Simple because, at the moment, all we have (again, some argue the video contains significant data) is a confirmation from the US Department of Defense (DoD) that the US Navy shot the video. The DoD has never, as far as I am aware, said anything about whether the pyramid-shaped object is designated as "UAV", "UAP", or "drone".

However, and in the name of fairness, there is a bit more to this particular UFO/UAP case than a confirmation from the DoD on the video's authenticity. You can get some more context surrounding the release of the video of a pyramid-shaped object(s) on the website of the man who obtained, vetted, and released the US Navy video in question, Jeremy Corbell

Nonetheless, the information on Corbell's website about the background of him obtaining, vetting, and releasing the video of pyramid-shaped flying objects over a US Navy destroyer is far from enough public data to draw any conclusions on what the video is showing or not (I do not have the skills or resources to make a proper analysis of the video). I hope that Mr. Corbell, in the future, will release any additional information he supposedly has on this particular US Navy video of pyramid-shaped flying objects.

Last, I post this conversation with Professor Kevin Knuth as an example of how scientists should approach science and use their curiosity and skills in the scientific method. Professor Knuth is not the only brave and humble professional scientist who is public with taking the UFO phenomenon seriously -- you can read about other examples in my previous posts here and here -- but I think we need more scientists like Professor Knuth in the public conversation and exploration of the truth of the UFO phenomenon.

That could really push for greater transparency and for congressional hearings. But a crucial circumstance for that to happen is that curious and courageous scientists like Professor Knuth have access to original data.

Enjoy and take care!

Janne
